Commissions

Terms of Service

Personal Commissions:

All commissions are for personal use only unless explicitly negotiated otherwise. Restricted use includes but is not limited to: reselling, reproduction in any medium, editing, tracing, reposts by third parties as promotional material, AI training, and NFTs.

I reserve the right to cancel a commission at any point in the process. Invoices must be paid through PayPal Invoices before I begin work. Commissioners have 24 hours to pay the invoice and reserve their commission slot - any invoices paid after the 24 hours are subject to delay. Commissions are non-refundable after final file delivery and 50% refundable if you cancel after I've started. A 100% refund will be issued if you cancel your commission before I've started work. If you cancel midway through a commission, you will not receive a finished piece or work in progress.

A request of 2 edits will be allowed before you're charged 10% of the original commission price, with a maximum of 5 edits. Edit requests after 2 months of final commission delivery will not be taken. The 2 edit request does not include things like color changes or my own misinterpretations of references.

All references and work details should be in the initial interest email. Inquiries that do not contain all information will be subject to delay or cancellation, with the exception of any clarifications or details you may have forgotten. I do not accept AI generated images as reference material.

Commissioners MUST be 18 years or older no matter the subject of the commission.

Patreon subscribers under the SPACE RANGERS tier receive a 15% discount off the total price of a personal commission. Please inform me in your initial email if you are a patron; I will not be able to retroactively discount a commission after the invoice is paid.

By paying an invoice from me, you acknowledge that you've read this page and agree to the terms stated.

Commercial Use & Licensing:

Commercial art includes but is not limited to: pre-order campaign art, book covers, sticker/pin design, and any art that is created to promote or advertise another product. This art is intended for the commissioner only. Any third party entity who identifies as a publisher or corporation who wishes to use the art on social media, in giveaways, or as a general promotional marketing asset must sign a licensing agreement before use.

Use for authors is restricted to social media/digital sharing, physical reproduction of the art for non-profit promotion like giveaways/pre-order campaigns, and general use to advertise the source material. Authors are not permitted to sell the art itself, sell prints of the art without a licensing agreement, permit publishers to use the art without my consent, enter the art into AI databases, nor use/sell the art in affiliation with NFTs.

I retain the right to post this art on my own platforms and portfolio after an agreed upon date or after the art has been publicly posted by the commissioner. I retain all copyright of the artwork I create unless explicitly stated otherwise in a signed agreement.

I ask that the commissioner share printing company information with me prior to the final file delivery so I can research print guidelines to deliver a print-ready file.

For Existing Character Cards: Publishers and other corporate entities are not permitted to use the physical cards or images of the cards for marketing, promotion, and other commercial uses, including but not limited to: social media posts, bookbox subscription items, and giveaway items. Explicit permission from both the commissioner/author and myself, as well as a licensing agreement, is required to use the artwork for any and all corporate promotional material, regardless of sales generated or the nature of the promotion.

Self-Published Cover Work

For indie authors looking for cover and illustrated jacket wraps, pricing will be different from personal, character-based commissions. Below is information that will hopefully help you decide if I am the best fit for your cover. If you have questions, please reach out directly via email! I love working on small press and self-published covers, so I try my best to be flexible.

Pricing ranges from $500 - $1,000+ USD. I try my best to adjust costs to fit the project and author budget, but I ask that author's looking to hire me be mindful that this is my full time job, and I'm sometimes unable to drastically lower my prices. I often work very quickly, so I ask that all invoices be paid within 1 month of the project's start - this is non-negotiable. I'm always happy to split invoices into two pieces at the start and end of the project if requested, but stress again that any split invoices must be paid within 1 month.

To get a ballpark estimate for a cover project, please consider these questions:
  • How much of the cover will you need? Is this just a front cover, or does it require a front/back/spine. Is this a full hardback jacket wrap with flaps, or a paperback?
  • How much licensing will you need? Do you plan to sell just your book, or are you also looking to make prints, stickers, or bookmarks to sell with the cover art?
  • How many characters would you like to appear on the cover, and how much of them is visible? I can usually do a maximum of four characters on a front cover, but this is not a hard and fast rule, so feel free to ask about more.
  • How many units of your book do you predict to sell?

A cover at the $500 range might look like a front cover/spine/back with no flaps, with 1 or 2 characters, predicted to sell under 100 units. The more wrap, characters, or units added to the project, the more the price will increase.

Some additional things to keep in mind:
  • I am primarily a character-focused artist. I may not be the best fit for more graphic design/logo based covers.
  • It is extremely helpful to know who you're printing with before reaching out to a cover artist! Your printer can provide cover templates; I can not take on a cover project without a template from a printing company/manufacturer/etc.
  • I require all cover commissioners to sign a Licensing Agreement before the start of a cover project. I will provide this and we can go over it together!
  • For each project, I provide 2-3 greyscale sketches for commissioners to choose from!

To get an exact price quote, please feel free to email me directly (please do not email my agent). If comfortable doing so, please include as much of the above information as you can!
